Storytelling, especially when it comes to conveying the experience of a patient, is more than mere words on paper. In trusting us with their experiences, our interviewees gave us far more than simply material for a magazine. They invited us into moments of uncertainty, resilience, grief, joy, and healing. Their stories have shaped not only these pages, but the way we understand medicine, one another, and ourselves. As future healthcare professionals, caregivers, and individuals who will one day find ourselves on both sides of illness, we leave this process with a deeper appreciation for the complexity that exists beyond a diagnosis. The simple act of listening, and the greater act of writing, can transform silence into voice, and experience into something lasting.
